Court Adjourns El-Rufai, Others’ ₦8.68bn Fraud Trial to December 8
A Federal High Court in Kaduna has adjourned the alleged ₦8.68 billion fraud and money-laundering case involving former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and six others until December 8, 2026. The adjournment followed requests by new counsel for both the prosecution and El-Rufai for time to study the case files and earlier proceedings. The court also fixed October 16, 2026, to rule on the bail application of former adviser Jimi Adebisi Lawal. The defendants were arraigned over an 11-count amended charge linked to a CCTV surveillance contract for Kaduna metropolis. The ICPC alleges that the contract breached procurement rules, while the defendants have denied the allegations. The case remains before the court for determination.
