Saudi Arabia Executes Two Bangladeshi Nationals Over Indecent Acts in Mecca Mosque
Saudi Arabia says it executed two Bangladeshi nationals convicted of committing indecent acts inside a mosque in Mecca. The Interior Ministry identified them as Nazrul Islam Abdul Basir and Siti Akhtar. It said they were arrested, investigated and convicted by a court under the kingdom’s discretionary punishment laws. According to the ministry, the convictions and death sentences were upheld by judicial authorities before a royal order authorised their implementation. The executions were carried out in the Mecca region on October 14, 2026. The ministry said it would continue to enforce laws protecting the sanctity of mosques.
