CAF Voids Edo Queens’ WAFU-B Final Win, Orders Extra Time Replay

CAF has annulled Edo Queens’ penalty shootout victory over Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B qualifying final. The match ended 2-2 in Ouagadougou on September 5 before Edo Queens won 4-1 on penalties. Ampem Darkoa protested, arguing that the regulations required 30 minutes of extra time before a shootout. CAF upheld the protest, stating that the final did not follow Article 72.4 of the competition rules. The teams will resume from 2-2 for two 15-minute periods of extra time. Penalties will be used only if the match remains level. The winner will qualify for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League. The decision has also raised questions about why the match officials proceeded straight to penalties.
