Oyo Community Abandoned after Bandit Kidnapping of Students and Principal
A local cleric reported that residents of an Oyo community near a forest reserve have fled their homes in fear after armed bandits abducted schoolchildren and teachers. In a distress video, the principal of Community Grammar School pleaded with the president and the state governor to pursue negotiation rather than a forceful rescue. She described the harsh conditions in the forest and warned that a recent military attempt had worsened the captives’ situation. The Nigeria Union of Teachers staged a peaceful rally in Ibadan demanding urgent government action to end attacks on schools. The National Association of Nigerian Students has also called for a solidarity march in Oyo State to press for the safe release of the victims and highlight the growing insecurity in rural communities.
