Peter Obi Says Respect for Tinubu Will Not Stop Him From Demanding Accountability

Peter Obi says he will not resort to personal insults against President Bola Tinubu or other public officials, insisting that political disagreement should focus on policy and performance. Speaking at the 2026 All Nigeria Editors Conference in Enugu, Obi said he has never needed to abuse anyone in government. He said the President deserves respect as the country’s leader. He added that respect must not prevent citizens and journalists from questioning leaders’ decisions. According to him, politicians should be assessed by their records, public statements, qualifications and integrity.
