FUTO Students Protest After Freshman Dies in Man O’ War Custody
Students at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri have taken to the streets after a 100-level Cybersecurity student died while in the custody of Man O’ War Nigeria cadets. He was held for questioning over an alleged theft of ₦13,000. Campus eyewitnesses say the student was physically assaulted for hours despite intervention attempts by fellow students. He became unresponsive overnight and later died, triggering widespread anger across campus. Protesters are demanding a full investigation and that anyone found responsible be held accountable. The university has suspended all Man O’ War activities on campus pending the outcome of the inquiry. No official statement has yet been released by the school or Man O’ War Nigeria.
