Senate Gives Seplat, Other Oil Firms 48 Hours to Answer NEITI Audit Queries

The Senate Public Accounts Committee has given Seplat Energy, Network E&P Nigeria Ltd., All Grace Energy Ltd., Aradel Energy and other oil firms 48 hours to appear and answer queries in NEITI audit reports for 2021 to 2023. The ultimatum followed the companies’ absence from an investigative hearing in Abuja. Committee chairman Senator Abdul Ningi said the firms must recognise the National Assembly’s constitutional authority to conduct oversight and summon organisations on public matters. Lawmakers warned that further failure to honour the invitation could lead to the full use of the Senate’s constitutional powers. Meanwhile, Dubri Oil Company disputed a reported 3.25 million dollar royalty and gas-flaring debt, saying its reconciliation with the upstream petroleum regulator had been concluded and that no debt remained. The committee said it would examine Dubri Oil’s supporting documents as its review of the NEITI audit findings continues.
