Pete Edochie Says His Acting Career Began 30 Years Before Nollywood
Pete Edochie has rejected claims that other actors are professionally senior to him, saying he began acting on stage at age 15 in 1962. Speaking on a comedy interview show, the veteran actor said theatre demanded a strong command of Shakespeare at the time. He maintained that his acting career started long before Nollywood emerged as a commercial film industry in the early 1990s. Edochie pointed to his acclaimed role in the 1985 adaptation of Things Fall Apart and said the production brought him international attention. He also cited national honours and honorary doctorates as recognition of his long-standing contribution to the arts.
