Chelsea Agree £40m Deal to Sign Atalanta Defender Honest Ahanor in 2027

Chelsea have agreed a deal worth about £40 million to sign Atalanta defender Honest Ahanor, with the 18-year-old scheduled to join the club in 2027. Ahanor is expected to spend the 2026/27 season at Crystal Palace to gain Premier League experience before linking up with Chelsea. The arrangement reportedly allows him to remain formally registered with Atalanta during the loan period. The Italian international made 35 appearances in his first season at Atalanta after arriving from Genoa in 2025. Able to play at centre-back, left-back and in midfield, he is viewed as another long-term investment in Chelsea’s young squad.
