Edo Police Arrest Six Men Over Alleged Sexual Assault of Minors

The Edo State Police Command has arrested six men over separate allegations of sexual assault involving minors. Commissioner of Police Patrick Daaor disclosed the cases during a press briefing on August 18, 2026. The suspects include a 42-year-old man accused of assaulting a 12-year-old boy, a home lesson teacher accused of assaulting a 13-year-old girl, and a father accused of abusing his 15-year-old daughter. Some of the suspects have been charged before the Benin High Court and remanded in correctional custody. Police also arrested men over allegations involving girls aged 8, 11 and 14. The minors were reportedly taken for medical attention, while investigations continue in cases that have not yet reached court. The command said the suspects will face further legal proceedings after investigations are concluded.
