2027 Elections: Nigerians Must Demand Clear Plans, Not Political Drama
Nigeria has entered another election season, with rallies, defections, endorsements and campaign promises already dominating public discussion. But the 2027 elections must be about practical solutions, not political theatre. Candidates and political parties should clearly explain how they will reduce the cost of living, create jobs, improve power supply, support farmers and make it easier for businesses to operate. Nigerians also deserve specific, funded plans to tackle insecurity, improve schools and hospitals, and deliver basic services such as roads, housing and water. Voters should ask every candidate: What will you do, how will you fund it, when will it be done, and how can the public measure your performance? The ruling party must defend its record, while opposition parties must offer credible alternatives beyond criticism. The campaign should not be reduced to ethnic, religious or personal attacks. Nigerians need leaders with realistic plans to make the country safer, stronger and more prosperous.
