Rep Calls for Military Bases in Otukpo/Ohimini After 12 Killed, Urges Calm
The Otukpo/Ohimini lawmaker has urged the Federal Government to set up military bases in vulnerable communities following fresh attacks that claimed 12 lives. She condemned the recent killings in Otukpo-Nobi, Akpachi and Ondu as barbaric and unacceptable. She appealed to top security agencies to establish Forward Operating Bases in Okwudu Community and other flashpoints. A sustained military presence, she said, would deter further violence and restore residents’ confidence. The lawmaker warned against reprisal attacks and called for thorough investigations into all recent killings, including the murder of the Benue MACBAN chairman. She stressed that revenge would only deepen the crisis and urged youths and community leaders to remain calm. She also pressed for the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency to be declared a security red-alert zone. She pledged to work with government, security forces, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to bring lasting peace and allow people to return safely to their farms and daily activities.
