My Friend Thinks I Have Feelings for His Wife, and It Is Ruining Our Friendship

My friend and I are currently not speaking. We used to go out together often, but he suddenly stopped inviting me. When his wife gave birth, he did not tell me until two days later. He also did not tell me when she returned from the hospital; another friend did. I decided not to visit because I feel he suspects that I want to sleep with his wife. He has also told me that he is a dangerous and bad person. I have tried to make it clear that I do not get close to women. Around his wife, I avoid eye contact because I feel awkward, but I worry that my behaviour may be making things worse. I also realise that some of my habits make people uncomfortable. For example, when I give someone money or help them, I may later mention it in a way that reminds them. Even when people ask me for something small, my reaction can come across badly. My siblings and parents have noticed this too. Am I wrong for refusing to visit his wife, and could my behaviour be the reason my friend is keeping his distance?
