The Ancient Israelites: A Black African Identity According to Scripture
I argue that the Bible presents the ancient Israelites as Black Africans rather than white or Arab. Verses like Amos 9:7 and Job 30 compare Israel to Ethiopians and describe dark skin. Passages in Song of Solomon, Lamentations, and Revelation further support this view. Yet many Nigerians still worship a white Jesus and support a modern Israel with no ancestral link to the Hebrews. I believe colonial conditioning has shaped our religious imagery. It’s time to revisit these texts and recognise the African heritage of the ancient Israelites.
