Kidnappers in Kwara Give FG One-Week Ultimatum Over 176 Hostages
Armed gunmen who abducted 176 residents of Woro community in Kaiama LGA, Kwara State have warned they will kill captives if their demands are not met within seven days. The traditional ruler of Woro, Salihu Bio, said the hostage-takers conveyed their message through victims during a Friday prayer session. Among those held is the monarch’s wife. One woman was allowed to call her family on April 25. She confirmed the group’s safety but said the captors—believed to be linked to Boko Haram—were teaching them in Arabic and Islamic studies. The kidnappers threatened to force the women into marriage and kill the weak if the Federal Government does not act within a week. The incident has deepened insecurity fears in northern Nigeria.
