Police Rescue Kidnapped Woman During Gun Battle in Delta Forest
Police operatives in Delta State have rescued a 48-year-old woman who was abducted and taken into Ovade Forest. The rescue operation followed a distress call and involved officers from the Oghara Division, the Quick Response Squad, local vigilantes and hunters. The team reportedly exchanged gunfire with about four suspected kidnappers, who fled and abandoned the victim. Police said one suspect was found dead, while another suspect arrested with gunshot injuries later died in hospital. A dagger, identification documents, a bank card, a mobile phone and other items were recovered. The woman was rescued unharmed and is being debriefed. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects.
