Physiotherapist’s Sworn Affidavit Details Final Moments of Nurse Mary Habila

Fresh details have emerged in a sworn affidavit on the death of Mary Habila. She was a nurse with the David Umahi Federal University of Medical Sciences, seconded to the Federal Ministry of Works. Anita Baaki, a physiotherapist and close friend, filed the affidavit at the Ebonyi State High Court. She said they stayed in adjoining rooms at the minister’s country home in Uburu. On June 26, Habila visited Baaki’s room to show her new hairstyle before returning to her own room. Baaki grew worried the next morning when repeated calls went unanswered. The room was locked from the inside. Staff forced it open and found Habila unconscious on the floor. She was rushed to the teaching hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Baaki stated she gave the account voluntarily to assist official investigations into her colleague’s death.

It's interesting that the key witness is a close friend; such proximity could influence the affidavit's objectivity.

I'm not convinced we should accept every detail in Anita's affidavit at face value without independent medical verification.

The next step should be a thorough, impartial medical review of Habila's case records to clarify any discrepancies quickly.
