Wenger Says an African Team Can Win the World Cup
Arsène Wenger believes an African nation can now realistically win the World Cup, pointing to the continent’s improved tactical discipline, organisation and recent results. He cited Morocco’s historic run to the 2022 semi-finals, when the Atlas Lions beat Belgium, Spain and Portugal on their way to becoming the first African and Arab side to reach that stage. Speaking at a CAF strategy conference in Cape Verde, Wenger said Africa’s progress shows that a World Cup title is achievable. He added that teams must still improve their mentality, unity and consistency to take the final step.
