Barcelona began their 2026/27 La Liga title defence with a 5-0 away win over Elche, wearing a Kobe Bryant-inspired kit for the occasion. The black-and-purple jersey features Bryant’s Sheath logo, a snakeskin-style design and gold details inspired by the Los Angeles Lakers. Inside the collar is Bryant’s quote: “Leave the game better than you found it.” The kit was unveiled on August 23, which would have been Bryant’s 48th birthday. Raphinha opened the scoring from the penalty spot as Barcelona delivered a dominant performance in tribute to the late NBA legend. Bryant had a long-standing connection with Barcelona and was a regular visitor during the club’s United States tours. He was also introduced to a young Lionel Messi by Ronaldinho.
