Itunu first met Gboyega in 2018 when he was dating her best friend. After that relationship ended, a simple check-in led to long calls, a close friendship and eventually feelings neither of them planned for. They told her friend about their connection, but the conversation caused a painful fallout. Still, the pair kept building their bond across Ilorin and Lagos, until Gboyega asked Itunu out in 2020. The relationship ended barely two months later when he said they were moving too fast. Both moved on and faced difficult relationships of their own. In 2025, Gboyega called Itunu out of the blue, and their old connection slowly returned. He supported her through a major surgery, while she helped him with career and financial decisions. In May 2026, Gboyega asked Itunu to be his girlfriend again during a trip from Lagos to Ibadan. They say their relationship now feels peaceful, supportive and more intentional than before.
