Presidency Threatens Legal Action Against VDM Over AI-Generated Tinubu Audio

The Presidency has vowed to prosecute social media critic Martins Vincent Otse (VDM) for sharing an AI-generated audio clip falsely attributed to President Bola Tinubu. The fabricated recording claimed the president said Nigeria would remain insecure because he was not elected in 2023. The clip first surfaced on X, raising alarms over deepfake content. Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, warned that VDM would face “the full weight of the law” for disseminating a fake audio that abuses social platforms. An independent review found no evidence that VDM ever published such a recording in his videos.
