Opposition Parties Demand EFCC Chairman’s Removal Over Osun Account Freeze
Calls for the removal of EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede have intensified after the commission froze an Osun State Government account days before the August 15 governorship election. The EFCC said it acted over suspicious transactions and was entitled to freeze the account for 72 hours while an investigation continued. Opposition parties, including the Accord Party and the New Nigeria People’s Party, described the action as politically motivated and demanded Olukoyede’s resignation or dismissal. President Bola Tinubu later ordered the account to be unfrozen, reportedly describing the action as embarrassing.
