NIS Says Nigerians Abroad Can Return Home With Expired Passports
The Nigeria Immigration Service says Nigerians abroad may return to Nigeria with expired Nigerian passports and renew them after arrival. The clarification comes as many people plan end-of-year trips home. The NIS said travellers can use their visit to complete passport renewal in Nigeria instead of waiting for an overseas appointment. It added that passport services at the Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom remain available for applicants with scheduled appointments. The contactless passport renewal platform is also still operational for eligible applicants who prefer to apply remotely.
