Seven Killed in Bandit Attack on Sayaya Community in Katsina

Grief and fear have gripped Sayaya community in Matazu Local Government Area following a bandits’ attack that left seven people dead, including a woman. Residents say the assailants arrived before dawn, firing sporadically. Survivors recall heavy gunshots, screams and children crying as families fled their homes. When the attackers left, seven bodies lay lifeless in the village. Locals blame a notorious bandit commander, Kachallah Fulani Muhammad, and link the violence to the recent withdrawal of troops from Operation Fansan Yamma. They warn that attacks soon resumed once soldiers pulled out. As mourners bury the victims in Islamic rites, many families have fled Sayaya for safety. Community leaders are appealing for sustained security measures, saying temporary deployments will not bring lasting peace.
