France Orders Russian Commentator Xenia Fedorova Expelled Over Disinformation Claims
France has ordered Xenia Fedorova, a Russian commentator and former head of RT France, to leave the country over allegations that she promoted Kremlin-backed disinformation. She has been placed under house arrest and must report to a police station daily while her case proceeds. The Interior Ministry alleges that Fedorova helped spread narratives intended to destabilise public order, influence public opinion and weaken trust in French and European institutions. The move comes amid growing concerns about foreign interference ahead of France's 2027 presidential election. Fedorova, who now appears on French media outlets including CNews and Europe 1, denies the allegations and plans to appeal. Her employers and lawyer argue that the expulsion order threatens press freedom and the right to express controversial opinions.
