Delta Approves New Salary Structure for State University and Tertiary Institution Staff
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has approved a new salary structure for academic and non-academic staff in the state’s four universities and other tertiary institutions. Academic staff will begin receiving the new pay from August, while non-academic staff and workers in other state-owned tertiary institutions will move to the new structure from September. The governor announced the decision while inaugurating governing councils for the universities in Agbor, Asaba and Ozoro. He asked the councils to promote transparency, discipline and stronger private-sector investment in the institutions. The state also plans to build two 480-bed hostels at each of its nine tertiary institutions, as part of efforts to improve student accommodation and expand education infrastructure.
