Takeoff’s Parents Clash Over Distribution of Wrongful Death Settlement
A legal fight has broken out between Titania Davenport and Kenneth Ball over the settlement proceeds from late rapper Takeoff’s 2022 wrongful death lawsuit. Davenport says she supported her son financially and emotionally from childhood through his music career. She claims Ball played only a limited role in Takeoff’s life and did not receive his support. Ball insists he deserves half of the settlement and wants the dispute heard in Texas. Davenport argues the case should stay in Georgia, where Takeoff’s estate is being probated. No judge has ruled on the venue question yet. Takeoff, born Kirsnick Khari Ball, was fatally shot outside a Houston-area bowling alley in November 2022. A suspect has been charged and is awaiting trial later this year.
