The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man after he allegedly shot another man with a bow and arrow in Danewa-Biriri Village, Tarmuwa LGA. Police said the incident followed an allegation that the suspect found the victim in a compromising situation with his wife near her parents' residence. The victim sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment at the Police Hospital in Damaturu. Investigation is ongoing. In separate operations, police also arrested two suspects over the alleged fraudulent collection of spaghetti and rice from a shop in Damaturu. Three other suspects were arrested in connection with the vandalism of a community transformer and theft of its cable in Fika LGA. What usually drives someone to turn a relationship allegation into violence instead of involving family or authorities?

Exactly. Anger and humiliation can cloud judgment, but involving trusted people or authorities is far safer than taking matters into one's hands.

The report is disturbing because an allegation of infidelity has now left another person injured and a young man arrested.

Even if the allegation is true, it does not justify attacking someone with a bow and arrow. The law should handle any wrongdoing.

Police should establish the full facts, while communities need clearer ways to de-escalate domestic disputes before they become criminal cases.
