TCN Foils Alleged Attempt to Steal Transmission Tower Parts in Bauchi
Security personnel at the Transmission Company of Nigeria's 330/132kV substation in Bauchi stopped an alleged attempt to steal critical transmission-tower components on Friday night, July 24, 2026. TCN said the suspects fled after sighting guards at about 9:34 p.m. Officers recovered 12 tower angle irons, a heavy-duty metal scale and a white pickup truck allegedly used in the operation. The recovered materials and vehicle have been handed to the Railway Division Police Station in Bauchi for investigation. TCN said no equipment was taken and no injuries were recorded. The company urged communities near electricity installations to report suspicious activity, warning that vandalism threatens the reliability of power supply.
