How Asake Chose OAU Over UK Studies – His Mum Tells All
On Korty EO’s YouTube podcast, Asake’s mother revealed she had raised money and obtained an international passport to send him to the UK. Despite her plans, Ahmed Ololade, aka Asake, insisted on studying Performing Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. A family friend and Nollywood actor, Muyideen Oladapo (Akalala), persuaded her and secured his admission. Asake credits OAU with sharpening his natural talent. Last December, he returned to the campus Amphitheatre for a spirited performance, greeted by the vice-chancellor and theatre arts staff, with his mother by his side. On the same podcast, Asake explained the meaning of his nickname “Giran” (stubborn in Yoruba) and spoke lovingly of both parents, even though they are no longer together.
