From Bricklayer to Governor: Francis Nwifuru’s Remarkable Journey
Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru began his career on a building site, working with a leveling stick alongside fellow bricklayers. He later became a loyal aide to businessman and aspiring politician Dave Umahi. Umahi rose to become deputy governor and then governor of Ebonyi State, taking Nwifuru under his wing and eventually anointing him as his political successor. When Umahi moved on to serve as Minister of Works, Nwifuru assumed office as governor of Ebonyi State.
