Gunmen Kill Pastor, Abduct Worshippers in Ekiti; CAN Demands Swift Security Response

Gunmen Kill Pastor, Abduct Worshippers in Ekiti; CAN Demands Swift Security Response

The Christian Association of Nigeria has condemned the deadly attack on a church crusade in Eda Oniyo, Ekiti State. Gunmen stormed an open-air event, killed a pastor and whisked away several worshippers. CAN called the incident a grave violation of human dignity and urged authorities to secure the immediate and safe release of those abducted. The body warned that such assaults on places of worship reflect a troubling rise in insecurity across parts of the country. Expressing sympathy for the bereaved family and the wider Christian community, CAN demanded stronger security presence in vulnerable rural areas and improved intelligence coordination to prevent further attacks. Archbishop Okoh prayed for comfort for affected families and swift restoration of peace.
