Fintiri Names Kanu Nwankwo Ambassador for Adamawa’s 2026 Governor’s Cup
Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has named former Super Eagles captain Kanu Nwankwo as ambassador for the 2026 Governor’s Cup. The football tournament will involve teams from all 21 local government areas of the state. It is designed to identify promising young players, especially in communities with limited access to organised scouting opportunities. Regional matches are expected to serve as scouting platforms, while the proposed final may be held at Adamawa’s new stadium when it is completed. Kanu, who is also chairman of Enyimba FC, said football should provide a pathway for the next generation of talented players.
