D’Tigress Target Strong Start Against South Korea at FIBA Women’s World Cup
Nigeria’s D’Tigress will face South Korea in Berlin on Friday as they begin their 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup campaign. The reigning African champions are seeking a response after South Korea beat them at a qualifying tournament in France earlier this year. Nigeria lead the overall head-to-head record with two wins from three meetings. National Sports Commission Director General Bukola Olopade has urged Nigerians to support the team, saying the players and coaching crew are ready to compete strongly. D’Tigress will also play Hungary and France in Group B. Group winners advance directly to the quarter-finals, while the second- and third-placed teams will enter qualification games for the remaining last-eight places.
