A toddler, Saida Haruna, has died after reportedly falling into a pit behind her home in Aloko, Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State. The incident occurred on Sunday, October 5, 2026. Saida had returned from Islamic school when she reportedly went to inspect the pit, which was said to have been dug by her brother and another child. She allegedly lost her balance and fell into the pit. The incident has left residents of the community mourning.
