JOHESU Says Calabar Psychiatric Hospital MD Appointment Protest Is Premature
The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) at the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Calabar, says protests over the alleged appointment of a substantive medical director are premature. The union said the Federal Government has not released an official outcome of the selection process. It described the protesters as unknown workers and alleged that the protest disrupted clinical activities at the hospital. JOHESU urged stakeholders to allow the process to follow due process, stressing that qualified Nigerians are entitled to seek leadership positions in federal institutions regardless of their state of origin. Hospital management also said the eight protesters were not members of staff.
