Sani Kaita Admits VAR Would Not Have Saved Him From 2010 World Cup Red Card

Former Super Eagles midfielder Sani Kaita says VAR would likely still have upheld the red card he received against Greece at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Kaita was sent off in the 33rd minute after kicking Greece defender Vasileios Torosidis. Nigeria were leading at the time but lost 2-1 after playing with 10 men. The dismissal was Nigeria's first red card at a World Cup and remains one of the painful moments of the 2010 campaign. Kaita says he accepts responsibility, admitting his intent in the incident was wrong and that he has moved on.
