NNPC Plans 50–70 Smart Energy Stations With EV Charging and CNG Within Six Months
NNPC Ltd. says it will roll out between 50 and 70 smart energy stations across Nigeria within the next six months. The outlets are designed to go beyond regular filling stations by offering petrol, LPG, CNG, electric-vehicle charging and other mobility services. The first station, commissioned in Abuja, has 16 petrol pumps, two diesel pumps, six EV charging points and solar power capacity above 200 kilowatts. It also has storage for 180,000 litres of petrol and 45,000 litres of diesel. Customers will be able to pay and dispense fuel through the NNPC Retail app, while attendants will remain available to assist people who cannot use the digital platform. NNPC says the hubs will operate 24 hours and include services such as car wash, vehicle maintenance, food outlets and planned CNG conversion facilities. More stations are planned for Abuja and Kano as NNPC upgrades existing retail outlets into integrated energy hubs.
