Operation Hadin Kai Reports 1,106 Terrorists Killed, 7,000 Families Returned in Borno
Outgoing Operation Hadin Kai Theatre Commander, Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, says troops killed 1,106 terrorists and recovered 475 weapons and 24,409 rounds of ammunition during his 16-month tenure in the North-East. He said troops also found and destroyed 295 improvised explosive devices, arrested 758 suspected logistics collaborators and intercepted more than N300 million allegedly linked to terrorist financing. According to him, 969 JAS/ISWAP fighters and their families surrendered, while 638 civilians were rescued from terrorist enclaves. Abubakar said more than 7,000 displaced families returned to communities across Borno, while over 3,000 Nigerians were repatriated from Cameroon. He also cited the return of NYSC orientation activities to Maiduguri, examinations in Banki and Gwoza, and reopened markets and trade routes as signs of improving security. Maj.-Gen. Ibikunle Ajose has taken over as the 16th Theatre Commander, pledging to build on the gains and intensify operations against insurgents.
