Damilola and Joshua Bamiloye have spoken about directing their father, Mike Bamiloye, in the remake of his classic film, Agbara Nla. Damilola said the experience brought back memories of watching his father perform the role while growing up. He said Mike Bamiloye welcomed their direction on set and followed their instructions without treating them differently because they were his sons. The remake combines the original seven-part Yoruba film into one two-hour, 30-minute production. The brothers said the new version uses improved technology and is intended to make the story easier for audiences beyond Yoruba-speaking communities to follow. They also rejected claims that Mount Zion films demonise Yoruba culture, saying the ministry’s stories oppose evil rather than any ethnic tradition.
