Indian Police Arrest Suspects Over Teenager’s Murder Linked to False Organ-Sale Claim
Police in Bhopal, India, say a 17-year-old street vendor, identified as Rehan, was lured to a secluded area and murdered by a group allegedly seeking to sell his testicles on the black market. Investigators said the suspects were influenced by a social-media video falsely claiming that human testicles could be sold for about 12 million rupees. Police allege that the group kept the organs on ice while trying to find a buyer. A 20-year-old business student and an 18-year-old alleged accomplice have been arrested, while three minors were detained. Police recovered Rehan’s body from Lower Lake after he was reported missing, and a post-mortem confirmed fatal injuries and the removal of his testicles. Investigators have recovered a suspected weapon and are questioning people the group allegedly contacted as potential buyers.
