Indian Court Denies Bail to Nigerian Man Accused of Killing Compatriot in Pune
A court in Pune, India, has denied bail to Nnaemeka Maduabuchi Onyia, a Nigerian national accused of killing fellow Nigerian Emeka Christian Orji during an alleged dispute linked to a woman. Orji, 40, was reportedly attacked at a flat in Pisoli in the early hours of January 12, 2026. He was taken to hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries. The court said investigators had presented sufficient material linking Onyia to the alleged offence. It also cited concerns that he could leave India if released. Police have filed charges against three Nigerian nationals; two have been arrested, while one suspect is reportedly still at large.
