Enugu Palm Oil Producer Launches Commercial Sales, Plans $2.2m Refinery
Enugu United Palm Products Limited (UPPL) has begun full commercial production of palm oil after reviving three previously abandoned plantations in Ibite-Olo, Umulokpa and Ugwu-Oba. The company says it has replanted more than 1,000 hectares, installed processing mills and started selling its EVOP palm oil brand in markets and supermarkets across Nigeria. It also plans to introduce lower-cost sachet packs for households. UPPL is preparing a $2.2 million refinery project to process crude palm oil into products such as olein, stearin and refined palm kernel oil. The Enugu State Government has pledged land, road access and security support for the expansion. The project is expected to create jobs, improve local food production and generate revenue from agricultural assets that had been dormant for years.
