500-Level FUHSAZ Student Killed in Hit-and-Run on Bauchi-Jos Road

A hit-and-run in Bauchi has claimed the life of 19-year-old Rebecca Kambai, a 500-level student at the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare. The crash happened on July 14 at 5:15 p.m. near the Police Officers Mess on the Bauchi-Jos Road. Rebecca had collected items sent from campus and was riding home with her brother on a motorcycle when a Sharon minibus struck them. She suffered a fractured skull and died instantly; her brother was injured and taken to ATBUTH for treatment. The FRSC report notes a 10-minute response time by rescue teams, who recovered the motorcycle, a hair stretcher and a pair of shoes. Rebecca’s remains were deposited at the hospital mortuary. Her mother described her as brilliant and her “favourite” child and expressed deep gratitude to those who have offered comfort. “God gives and He has taken away,” she said in her tribute.
