Defence HQ Reports Casualties After Coordinated Attack on 29 Brigade HQ
The Defence Headquarters has confirmed that terrorists and several soldiers were killed in a coordinated attack on the 29 Task Force Brigade Headquarters in Benisheikh, Borno State. Major General Michael Onoja said the attack began around 12:30 a.m. on April 9, 2026. Under Brigadier General Oseni Braimah’s leadership, troops responded with courage and superior firepower, forcing insurgents to retreat. The military mourns the loss of a few brave soldiers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty. The Chief of Defence Staff honoured their sacrifice and extended condolences to their families. Clearance operations are ongoing to track fleeing insurgents and prevent regrouping. The Armed Forces of Nigeria and partner agencies remain undeterred in the fight against terrorism.
