After ‘Kundusi’ Backlash, MC Oluomo Says He Is Taking English Lessons

Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, says he is taking English lessons to improve his communication skills. He spoke about the classes at a rally supporting President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, where actor Lege Miami was also present. MC Oluomo said he sometimes finds it difficult to speak English at public events and has handed the microphone to his children to speak for him. He also claimed to be an American citizen and said his children have successful careers in the United States, including as nurses, a doctor and an engineer. His English has attracted attention before. In April 2025, he faced online criticism after pronouncing “kudos” as “kundusi” while praising union members. He later said that speaking good English was not the most important thing, adding that he understood Yoruba and had worked hard to give his children better educational opportunities.
