Population, Infrastructure Gaps Delay Impact of Tinubu’s Economic Reforms – Bwala

Nigeria’s large population and persistent infrastructure deficit are slowing the pace at which citizens feel the benefits of President Tinubu’s economic reforms, according to a presidential aide. Daniel Bwala highlighted that even with increased federal revenue, current resources cannot match a population of over 230 million or cover critical infrastructure needs quickly. He pointed to initiatives like the Student Loan Fund, the CNG transportation scheme, and healthcare subsidies for dialysis and Caesarean sections as examples of targeted support for low-income Nigerians. Bwala also explained why macroeconomic gains may not immediately translate into improved household living standards, stressing that steady progress takes time. On security, he cited joint military operations and recent airstrikes that have neutralised more than 170 terrorists and rescued dozens of kidnapped victims. While acknowledging ongoing challenges, he urged Nigerians to recognise the steady, if gradual, progress under the current administration.

With Nigeria's large population and infrastructure gaps, how can the government speed up citizens feeling benefits of Tinubu's reforms?

I agree, boosting power supply and maintaining key roads could help citizens see real improvements faster.

We've heard delays blamed on population size before, but shouldn't we also hold leaders accountable for concrete project timelines?

Prioritising targeted infrastructure projects, like road and power upgrades in key cities, could help citizens feel reforms' effects faster.
