Kwara Plans Dangote Refinery Share Grants for Female Teachers
The Kwara State Government says it plans to buy Dangote Refinery shares for selected female teachers as part of a financial-inclusion initiative. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq announced the plan at the 2026 World Teachers’ Day event in Ilorin. He said the state intends to provide shares for 10 female teachers in each outstanding public school and extend the scheme to qualified retired female teachers. According to the governor, the Dangote Foundation will match each 10-share purchase with another 10 shares. The state has also directed its Head of Service to develop guidelines for including retired female teachers. The initiative could give beneficiaries assets beyond their monthly salaries. However, the key questions are how beneficiaries will be selected and whether the programme can continue beyond the current administration.
