UNIPORT HONOURS PROFESSOR EBEKU ~ Eulogizes his legacy for instituting an academic award for the overall best graduating student of the faculty. The management and staff of the Law Faculty of the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has honoured Professor Kaniye Ebeku for instituting an academic award for the overall best graduating student of the faculty. This unanimous decision was reached at the faculty meeting held on the 5th of July, 2024. According to the management of the faculty, Professor Kaniye has laid a solid foundation in the faculty,such that his works and legacies cannot go unrecognised, hence the decision to honour the erudite professor of law and astute academician. Receiving the award on behalf of Prof Ebeku, who is in Abuja, for the inauguration and retreat of the Chairmen and members of Nigerian Universities Governing Councils, Dr. Solomon Ebeku, a member of the academic staff of the faculty, appreciated the thoughtfulness of the law faculty in honouring his elder brother who has done well for himself and the people of Ekpeye land, served the state in various capacities, and is currently serving the country. Certainly, he is a man who has contributed so much to the development of the legal profession, both nationally and internationally. Recall that Professor Kaniye Ebeku was the pioneer Dean of the faculty when it was founded and played significant roles in laying the structural and academic foundations of the young faculty.
