Mohammad Taghavi, a 58-year-old political prisoner, recorded a powerful video appeal moments before his execution in Evin Prison. He urged supporters to advance “the campaign for overthrow of the regime” and called on educated activists to join the movement for a brighter future. Taghavi and fellow dissident Akbar Daneshvarkar were hanged after facing months of severe torture, solitary confinement and speedy trials. Rights groups report that neither family received notice ahead of the executions, and both men belonged to the banned People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
